Lymestone Brewery is proud to be involved in the Brussels Christmas Reception, a Celebration of Beers from the East and West Midlands to be held Tuesday 1st December 2009 at the Brewers of Europe House, Brussels.
Although unable to attend in person, we will be represented by SIBA - the Society of Independent Brewers of which the Lymestone Brewery is a full brewing member. Our three bottled beers, Foundation Stone, Ein Stein and Stone the Crows which will be available for tasting at the event are brewed in the town of Stone, Staffordshire.
MEPs will attend the event and join SIBA in celebration of the brewing skills of this region. We in the small brewing sector need to know we have the full support of our MEP's and that they have our best interests at heart.
A huge
“Thanks”
To the guests who attended the “Day of Tours” this Saturday 25th July 2009.
I started the day ever so slightly jaded from the previous evening’s tour which was organised by members of the Trentham Rugby Union Football Club. Win lose or draw, I’ve always enjoyed Trentham’s company and some of the chaps and I go back a long way. It was good to meet up again and show them round the brewery. Always a sociable bunch; Trentham were in fine voice and celebrated a couple of birthdays in their own inimitable way. It was a great night thanks guys, good luck for the forthcoming season.
Despite the change of tempo, Saturday was just as entertaining. Four, two hour tours, with food, back to back was always going to be demanding. Nevertheless it was great fun and very rewarding. In the years that I have presented Brewery Tours; I have often commented that no two tours are exactly the same. So it was with each tour over the weekend. Stone Allotments Society, the Staffordshire and Shropshire Land Rover Club and the Acton and Bednall Men’s Society made up a significant proportion of the guests throughout the day however Dave Rowlands and Rachel Simpson also each earned awards for the size of their groups. There were also many others in smaller groups who all helped make the day a memorable one. A special mention goes to Rachel who used the tour as part of her birthday weekend. We celebrated in the customary manner by singing Happy Birthday to her.
I suspect the chaps from Trentham might have done things differently...
Finally a big thanks to Viv, my wife, for slaving over a hot stove to make stew for 100 and to the Emmo’s for dropping in and helping out.
